Book Review – Red Queen

Red Queen (Red Queen, #1)Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Things I enjoyed about this book:
The main character started out with a very strong, spunky voice and I immediately liked her. The other characters involved were also very likable, and even when I didn’t like their actions, I was still on their side. The story itself kept me on my toes, and there were definitely points when I was completely sucked in to what was happening (the action parts were written very well)! Also, the concept of people being treated differently based on the color of their blood was incredibly interesting and original. Victoria Aveyard was able to take ideas and concepts that may be familiar, yet combine them in a way that was fresh and exciting.

Things that could have been better:
I have a hard time with wishy-washy characters, and the main character seems to go back and forth a lot between her options, even after she makes a choice. (Also, some of her choices were a little questionable to me… But hey, I’m here to judge her.)

Overall:
I would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for an exciting new read!
