Being dead isn’t so bad. If only there weren’t so much paperwork.

At age seventeen David Garcia fell to his death, and for the past ten years has been working at the front desk of heaven. His peaceful, somewhat boring, afterlife is disturbed when a powerful demon called Malum escapes his prison and attacks the closest available target: David. After Malum escapes, David feels personally responsible and decides to join the demon hunters, intent on recapturing him before he destroys the world. Unfortunately, this is a job many of the most qualified angels aren’t up to, and David’s only skills are filing papers and cracking self-deprecating jokes. Ignoring the warnings of well-meaning family and friends, and becoming entangled in an unanticipated love triangle, David learns very quickly that he is in way over his head.
